Traffic Court Records in Saline County
The issuing agency tells you where the traffic case lives. A Saline County Sheriff's Office or Kansas Highway Patrol citation points to the District Court, 28th Judicial District. Its clerk holds that record. A Salina Police ticket instead belongs to Salina Municipal Court. Tickets written in another incorporated city follow that city's municipal route when it runs an active court function.
The badge on the ticket is the fastest clue. It beats any guess based on where you were stopped. District traffic records can include the citation, charge, plea, settings, disposition, costs, orders, and public filings. A municipal clerk keeps the same core history for a city case. Assaria, Brookville, Gypsum, Smolan, and New Cambria post no public docket portals. The city office is the fallback for those court records.
Saline Ticket Venue Split
Where the stop happened matters less than you might think. The badge and the court instructions printed on the ticket control the route. That distinction also decides which clerk can confirm a Saline County court date or hand you a disposition copy.
| Issuer | Court Route | First Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Saline County Sheriff | Saline District Court | District traffic desk |
| Kansas Highway Patrol | Saline District Court | District traffic desk |
| Salina Police | Salina Municipal Court | Municipal Court |
| Other city officer | Issuing city's municipal route | City office or court clerk |
Salina Municipal Court sits at 255 N. 10th Street and takes traffic questions at 785-826-7230. For District traffic, call 785-309-5830.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
Read the citation before you touch any portal. For a public District Court case, Kansas Courts CaseSearch will search the case number. The Kansas Central Payment Center only looks up payments, not a full docket or its documents.
- Read the issuing agency, named court, ticket date, and citation or case number.
- For District Court, search a public case number in CaseSearch.
- Use the Central Payment Center only for its payment and balance functions.
- Call District traffic at 785-309-5830 if the citation has not posted or appearance is required.
- Visit the District Court clerk in Room 306, with payment routing in Room 307, when online access fails.
- For a Salina Police ticket, use the municipal phone, counter, mail, drop box, city payment page, or nCourt route.
- For older files or copies, ask the correct clerk about the courthouse terminal or written request.
One caution about the county traffic page. It still lists an obsolete public-portal address, so rely on current CaseSearch instead of the old ProdPortal link.
Saline Payment Search Fields
The Central Payment Center gives you several ways to find a payable account. The citation or case-number tab pairs that number with a date of birth. Other search paths accept a name, business name, license, or vehicle. The service also offers a sensitive identifier route. Those controls find payments only. They do not open a full Saline County traffic record.
| Search Path | Companion Field | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Citation or case number | Date of birth | Payment lookup |
| Name | First, last, and date of birth | Payment lookup |
| Business name | Business name | Payment lookup |
| Driver's license | Issuing state | Payment lookup |
| Vehicle plate | Plate state | Payment lookup |
The official payment service is the source for the captured interface.
A successful balance search has limits. It is not a certified disposition and not a complete docket.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
Trust the date printed on the citation unless the court says otherwise. Saline County's District traffic docket runs Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 111 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash in Salina. Still, call the clerk to confirm, because a reset or continuance can move the active setting.
| Citation or Case Number | Use the exact value printed on the ticket, such as the citation number shown by the court. |
|---|---|
| Court | District Court or the named municipal court. |
| Date and Time | Appearance, arraignment, payment, or later setting. |
| Courtroom | District traffic lists Courtroom 111; city venues differ. |
| Status | Pending, paid, disposed, reset, or another court-entered state. |
The Saline County traffic page publishes the District docket and payment directions.
This court page links the local schedule to the District Court route only.
Saline Mandatory Appearance Charges
An online payment button does not mean every charge can be settled from home. Saline County requires a court appearance for several offenses. The list covers no proof of insurance. It also covers leaving an accident scene, no valid driver's license, and driving while revoked or suspended. DUI and open container appear too. So do minor possession or consumption and a child under fourteen riding without the required restraint.
Check the citation first. Call the District traffic clerk when a mandatory appearance may apply instead of relying on a payment screen.
The appearance or payment date printed on the citation is the deadline that matters most. A clerk can confirm whether your case sits on the regular traffic docket or needs another setting.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
A payable infraction, such as speeding, can be handled two ways. Pay in full online. Or pay at the District Court clerk's payment counter. To pay by mail, send it to the Centralized Court Payment Center, P.O. Box 750200, Topeka, KS 66675-0200. The fine and cost are due by the ticket date. For a charge-specific fine, check the citation. You can also ask the court.
| Paying | Contesting |
|---|---|
| Uses an approved online, mail, or counter route | Requires a not-guilty response through the named court |
| Resolves the charge through payment and court entry | Leads to a contested hearing or trial setting |
| Must follow the citation deadline | Must follow the citation or clerk's response instructions |
Unpaid-ticket consequence: Saline County says a total unpaid thirty days after court results in license suspension and a $122 reinstatement fee per charge.
That is the county's stated consequence for a missed court ticket. If you blew past the payment date or a setting, contact the clerk promptly.
Saline County Traffic Diversion
The Saline County Attorney traffic-diversion instructions set up a separate application route. You send a driving record from the DMV in Topeka, a completed application, a legible ticket, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and contact details to the Traffic Attorney, 300 W. Ash, Room 302, Salina, KS 67401. Email submission is listed at traffic@salinecountyks.gov.
The application fee is $10. It is nonrefundable. Approval means paying the fine. It also requires a $10 diversion fee, $108 court cost, and a $25 Crime Victims' Reparations Fund fee. Proceedings stay for 90 days. Finish successfully and the County Attorney dismisses the remaining charges with prejudice. Fail, and revocation, trial on stipulated facts, conviction, and sentence can follow.
Note: Applying does not itself grant diversion or erase the court's active deadlines.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two different offices keep two different files. The District or municipal clerk holds the traffic court case. The Kansas licensing agency holds the state driving file. A public Saline County case search replaces neither a certified disposition nor a state-issued driving record.
| Court Traffic Record | State Driving Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | District or municipal court clerk | Kansas licensing agency |
| Shows | Citation, charge, plea, settings, disposition, costs, orders, and public filings | Driving information reported by courts and licensing actions |
| Request | CaseSearch, terminal, or correct court clerk | State licensing-agency route |
The traffic court record and its court date are the focus. The licensing file comes up only to keep the two products and their offices clear.
Fees and Copies
The local figures you may see published cover court costs, diversion, and what happens when a ticket goes unpaid. They say nothing about a Saline County traffic-record copy cost. Copy and certification fees are set by the court that issued the ticket. Call that court for today's price. Ask about a plain copy, a certified copy, and any research charge.
| Item | Amount or Status | Source Note |
|---|---|---|
| District traffic court cost | $108 | County traffic page |
| Diversion application | $10, nonrefundable | Diversion instructions |
| Diversion court cost | $108 | Diversion instructions |
| Crime Victims' Reparations fee | $25 | Diversion instructions |
| Unpaid-ticket reinstatement | $122 per charge after stated condition | County traffic page |
| Fine | Charge-specific | Read citation or ask clerk |
| Record copy or certification | Not located | Ask the issuing court |
Note: A county administrative KORA copy rate is not a District Court or municipal certified-copy fee, so treat the two charges as separate things.
Saline Smaller-City Traffic Fallback
The smaller incorporated cities in Saline County offer no public traffic docket portal right now. Take a city-issued ticket straight to that city office or its active municipal clerk. Ask about the case status and the next setting. Ask how to get copies, who holds the record, and the current fee.
New Cambria sits below the five-page population cutoff. Yet it still works as an incorporated-city route. The county table gives P.O. Box 38 and 785-536-4296 as contacts. Treat that as a fallback only, not as proof of a live docket portal. Does your citation name District Court instead? Then go back to the Saline County District traffic desk.
Saline County Citation Custodians
Start with the court name printed on your citation, because that court holds the record. Sheriff and Kansas Highway Patrol traffic cases go to District Court. Salina Police traffic cases belong to Salina Municipal Court. A smaller city's citation works differently. That city office is the first call, since no public municipal docket search exists for those towns.
Keep four things together when you contact any of them. You want the citation number, the agency, the date, and the court name. With those fields in hand, a payment search or records request lands in the right system instead of the wrong one.
Saline Traffic Portal Outage Plan
A statewide outage can knock several Kansas systems offline at once. CaseSearch, the Central Payment Center, the Hearing Calendar, and eFlex all went dark together during the December 2025 Kansas eCourt migration. A blank screen at a moment like that proves nothing about your Saline County traffic case. The case did not vanish. Its deadline did not move.
Work around the outage with your citation in hand. Phone the court named on the ticket to confirm the date and payment status. You can also go to the correct clerk counter in person. District Court users can ask about the public terminal once service returns. Salina Police citations still route to Salina Municipal Court. Smaller-city citations go to the issuing city's office. Never send money through an unverified replacement link during an outage.
